A weapon endemic to the Moplahs, or Mapillas, a Muslim group of Malabar. The ebony grip with hooked pommel and elaborately engraved brass mounts, with profiled brass ferrule. The blade with engraved brass reinforces, expanding continuously toward the convex tip. 18th century. Light wear. Overall length 47cm. Condition II
