Description
The grips of elephant, with well engraved and heavily gilded guard, tangbands and pommel. The fine, broad, bifullered blade wrought in European style, showing possible evidence of wootz construction and retaining considerable sharpness. In its finely tooled and heavily gilded leather-covered wooden scabbard with gilt suspension bands and chape with vinework borders. Mid-18th century. Minor rubbing. Overall length 97cm. Ex- Ryszard Janiak, noted Polish collector. Condition III
