Description
The Qajar-era steel hilt with expanded pommel in the style of a karabela and flattened quillon terminals, finely and extensively inlaid overall with silver in vinework motifs. The broad, T-backed single-edged recurved blade chiseled with a javelin motif and wrought of superb twistcore damascus steel. Inlaid in silver with the owner’s name, HASSAN (?) and the date, 1272 (1855/56 c.e.) Dated 1855. Minor wear and pitting. Overall length 73.5cm. Condition III
