Description
Kwaio People of Malaita Island, of characteristic form. Carved from a single large section of hardwood expanding toward the tip, with distinctive “nose” to either side accompanied by fine incised panels retaining much original lime inlay. The grip with flanged guard, terminating in a long grip. With good patina. Late 19th-early20th century. Minor wear. Overall length 96.5cm. Condition II
