The hardwood grip hilt of karabela form with silver bosses and applied silver lionhead ornament to the pommel, with steel crossguard. The heirloom Persian wootz blade curved, single-edged and inscribed in a cartouche at the right forte, THERE IS NO HERO LIKE ‘ALI AND NO SWORD LIKE DHUL-FAQAR! In its fur-covered wooden scabbard with large, embossed silver mounts, the center mount engraved, THERE IS NO VICTORY BUT THAT OF ALLAH, AND MUHAMMAD IS THE PROHPET OF ALLAH! in an archaic hand. 19th century.
