Description
The wooden tree covered in velvet, the pommel, cantle and housings covered entirely in solid silver plaques, superbly embossed and engraved throughout in classic Ottoman motifs. The velvet saddle aprons with file gilt embroidery, likewise in traditional motifs. With its fine saddle blanket with green fringe trim, extensively set with embossed and engraved silver plaques. Retains its fine headstall and breast strap, the leather virtually covered in embossed and engraved silver studs and plaques en suite with the saddle and retaining its original silk tassels. Rare embroidered leather saddle pad intact. First half of the 18th century. Cleaned, velvet seat restored, wear, losses and minor repairs to mounts. Saddle 43 cm overall length. Condition III
