Description
The hilt of Norman type 67 form, a type peculiar to England. Incorporating quillons and knucklebow with flared terminals set with beaded finials and open panels throughout the scrolled cup. With fig-form faceted pommel. The grip with finely twisted wire wrap. The long, well-wrought blade of flattened lenticular section with flattened forte cut with three fullers and a small incised I. Second quarter of the 17th century. Minor pitting, grip wire possibly replaced. Overall length 110cm. Condition II
