A rare example of the type. Of siege weight, forged of a single thick plate of steel with pronounced central ridge and characteristic raised scrolling, terminating in a characteristically elaborate rolled and profiled band at the upper edge with applied gussets with rolled and roped edges, the fauld with scalloped edges. With period repairs. First half of the 16th century. Overall height 42.5cm. Condition IV
