Description
An exceptional example, very well-wrought, the one-piece skull with characteristic comb and peaked visor and neck guard with roped borders. The large earpieces en suite and well fitted with roped borders. Elaborately etched throughout with alternating roped panels containing images of the Crucifixion, mythological monsters, armor and horses among others. Retains its large, brass floriform studs. Mid-16th century. Minor wear. Overall height 34cm. Condition II
