Displaying a high quality of workmanship, wrought entirely of silver employing elaborate filigree and granulation techniques, the fine blade wrought of pattern-welded damascus steel. C. 1850-1890. Overall length 26.5cm. It is documented by General Ivan Baryatinsky and other Imperial Russian officers in the Army of the Caucasus that mountaineer children were given a kindjal dagger and learned to ride as early as age three.
