Description
An earlier than average example, the grip carved of a single section of hardwood with the characteristic crested and hooked pommel and flowering vinework panel to each side. The guard with expanded quillon terminals, the broad, lightly-curved, single-edged and fullered blade with radiused tip, inscribed at the forte and struck with sickle marks. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with engraved brass chape. Early 19th century. Worn. Overall length 89.2cm. Condition III
