Description
The horn grip with pommel carved in the form of a Bektashi turban, with brass ferrule and characteristic well-fullered and blade. In its leather-covered wooden sheath with simplistically-engraved silver mounts. Mid-19th century. Worming to grip. The Bektashis were among the most influential dervish sects in the Ottoman Empire, known to accompany the Janisarries into battle unarmed. Overall length 34cm. Condition III
