Description
With massive walrus grips of Balkan form, the elaborate tangband and bolsters gilded. The broad, single-edged recurved blade with narrow fullers, inscribed in a silver cartouche, WORK OF MUSTAFA, OWNER MALIK HUSSEIN AGHA and the year, 1272 (1855/6 c.e., ) the reverse with geometrical designs. The wooden scabbard covered entirely in intricately embossed and engraved silver mounts, terminating in a characteristic dolphins head. Dated 1855/6. Stable age crack to one grip. Overall length 77cm. Condition II
