Description
A fighting weapon with wooden grips and steel guard of characteristic form, the heirloom Persian blade likely captured, wrought of fine and unusual wootz resembling snakeskin with numerous inscriptions at the right forte, including ABDUL RAHMAN 1274 (1857 c.e.) WORK OF OCHTA (?) and at the right, in proximity with a series of grain opening, YA ALLAH! YA ALLAH! YA ALLAH! (Oh God!) Retains its fragmentary scabbard. Dated 1857, blade earlier. With its From the collection of a distinguished retired Lt. Colonel in the American Army, acquired while stationed in Afghanistan in 2008-9. Generally worn, scabbard as found.
