Description
A fighting weapon with solid hardwood grips and steel guard of characteristic form, the heirloom Persian blade likely captured, wrought of finely patterned Kara Khorrasan black wootz with a worn cartouche at the right forte which appears to call on ‘Ali for assistance, with additional gold inlaid inscriptions with the makers name: KAR SULTAN NASR BEK as well as the owners name: MUHAMMAD BAHADUR ABBAS. Mid-19th century, blade earlier. From the collection of a distinguished retired Lt. Colonel in the American Army, acquired while stationed in Afghanistan in 2008-9. Minor rubbing. Overall length 92.5cm. condition III
