Description
The cup well embossed and chased with foliate work surrounding crowns and the arms of France, with long, wrenched quillons and knucklebow with beaded center and terminal, the pommel with foliate chiseling. Grip with small section of original iron wire wrap and silver turkshead knots. Long double-edged tapering blade with narrow central fullers bearing worn marks. Mid-17th century. Blade pitted at the forte, some wire wrap and possibly turksheads replaced. Overall length 115cm. Condition III
