Description
An above-average example likely worn by an officer. The domed bowl well-wrought in two pieces and embossed with raised ribs, surmounted by profiled mount set with a ring. The visor, earpieces and neck guard embossed with four lames separately-applied, each with studded, rolled edges. The nasal with flared and profiled lower terminal and struck with a circular makers mark, retained by a large, heart-shaped bolt. Retains its darkened surface. Mid-17th century. Areas of rubbing. Overall height 30cm. Condition II
