Description
Maguindanao work, well-carved hardwood kakatua pommel, the grip with bands of silver finely engraved in okir motifs separated by filigreed ring, the baca-baca likewise of silver. The substantial waved blade with separately-applied ganga short fullers with engraved decoration and unusual central ridge running all the way to the tip, showing layered forging and hardened edges. In its wooden scabbard with silver mounts. Late 19th- early 20th century. Minor wear, scabbard with losses at throat. Overall length 74cm. Condition III
