Description
A relatively early armor, distinctly heavier than later examples. Composed of a series of thick bronze plates which completely cover the body to the knee, intricately interconnected by heavy, hardened bronze rings, the large central plates set with a pair of copper clasps with profiled borders. The sleeves terminating in points, wrought of finer rings than those of the body. 18th – 19th century. Patinaed overall, wear, small breaks. Overall length from nape to hem 88cm/ 34.6”. The Moros adopted plate and mail armor worn buy Persian and Indian traders in the 15th-16th century. It was both flexible and strong, allowing a warrior to both run and fight while stopping sword and spear attacks. Many armors were taken by Spanish and American forces and are very rarely found on the market today. Stand not included. Condition II
