Description
An extremely rare example. A small number were produced on special order in Germany, mounted in polished nickel, the hilt with characteristic wire-wrapped grip and raised thumb-rest at the base of the backstrap and modeling to the base of the quillon. The lightly-curved, single-edged blade finely etched with stands of arms amongst foliage and the PC cypher of the Philippine Constabulary, and struck with a silver H maker’s mark at the left forte. The matching scabbard likewise nickeled and set at the throat with the CP cypher set among oakleaves. Retains its leather water guard at the base of the blade. Hilt tight, engraving crisp. C. 1900-1910. Slight frosting overall with minor denting to scabbard. Overall length 94cm/ 37”. The Philippine Constabulary was known as the bravest cadre of hand to hand fighters of its time. Its motto: Always outnumbered, never outfought! Condition II.
