Description
The hardwood grips carved with chevrons and embellished with pierced and engraved silver bosses and tangband. The silver guard of characteristic form with expanded quillons with stepped and beaded terminals. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with mounts, elaborately engraved en suite with the hilt. The massive antique Mughal blade lightly curved and single-edged with pronounced yelman or back edge, deeply struck at the left forte with a makers mark and a punched armory inscription. With its silver-mounted leather sword belt. Blade 17th- 18th century, mounts 20th century. Very light wear. Overall length 98cm/ 38.5”. Bespoke work by a Polish master craftsman using an antique blade. Condition I
