Description
The iron hilt of Delhi style covered entirely in floral sprays executed in silver inlay, the knucklebow with stepped terminal. The heirloom Persian blade moderately curved and forged of black damascus wootz steel, inscribed in gold a cartouche at the right forte, WORK OF ASSAD ALLAH ISFAHANI, the spine with delicate vinework. Blade first half of the 17th century, hilt latter 18th century. Well worn overall, blade with areas of pitting, scabbard replaced. Overall length 84.1cm/ 33.14”. Condition IV
