Description
The hilt of karabela form, wrought entirely of steel and chiseled overall in complex vinework patterns, with considerable gold inlay intact. The broad, T-backed blade wrought of fine Persian black wootz, with distinctive raised, chamfered cutting edge and yelman (back edge) in bright polish, inlaid at the forte with a Kufic-style inscription in two cartouches. 18th–19th century. Worn, isolated areas of minor pitting. Overall length 85.5cm/ 33.66”. Condition III
