Description
Qajar dynasty, the bowl of hemispherical form with a fully-modelled crested peacock head and neck with intricately gold inlaid features and chiseled feathers, likewise gold inlaid, above a Qajar Khorshid or sun in splendor embossed in high relief, the features and rays finely bordered in gold, supporting a ring of chiseled and gold-bordered Timurid trefoils. The rim with a broad panel of finely-chiseled Quranic inscriptions in silver. Retains its original camail of fine iron and brass rings, with long, tapering termini. Light wear, minor rubbing. Mid-19th century. Height including camail 59.4cm/ 23.38”. Condition II
