Description
A robust example, with distinctive shirmani grip and profiled steel bosses with gold inlay. The broad, double-edged blade with acute tip, finely forged with an offset fuller and extensively inlaid in gold on both sides including birds heads and Islamic inscriptions amongst vinework. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with fine gold-inlaid chape. Ex- John Eben Byrd III, noted American photographer and skydiver. Mid-19th century. Minor wear, grip with hairline crack, goldwork rubbed. Overall length 56cm/ 22”. Condition III
