Description
Likely Dutch, the graceful hilt finely forged of oval-section bars with large, recurved quillons and faceted openwork fig-shaped pommel. Wooden grip. The exceptionally long, double-edged well-forged blade of hexagonal cross section with short groove at the forte, becoming quadrangular and tapering continuously to the tip. Late16th- early 17th century. Minor wear, grip wrap lacking. Overall length 127cm/ 50”. Condition II
