Description
An exceptionally small example designed for the purpose, the hardwood stock with well-engraved brass furniture, mounted with an engraved patilla lock and stepped barrel with octagonal breech, ramrod with horn tip intact. Contained in a gold-stamped leatherbound German volume, GEMEINUSSIGES LERITON, published in Nuremberg, 1791, fitted in a dedicated, lined cavity which leaves pages at the beginning and end of the book still accessible to casual examination. C. 1800. Pistol rubbed, with minor crack to stock. Book cover repaired in period. Overall height of book 20.6cm/ 8.1”, pistol length 17.6cm/ 6.9”. Condition II
