Description
A very seldom encountered form. The characteristic grip of antler, finely-carved with aso motifs and retaining its intricately-woven rattan wrap and hair ornaments. The massive, handwrought blade expanding continuously to the tip, deeply profiled and engraved with aso motifs at the ricasso and spine and intricately inlaid with brass and copper. In its carved wooden scabbard with rattan bindings. Late 19th century. Minor wear. Overall length 67.8cm/ 26.7”. Condition II
