Description
German work, the skull well-wrought, with characteristic high comb and peaked visor with two-stepped neck guard. The large earpieces inletted at the upper edge to suit the visor with circular embossed and pierced panels, the whole embellished with studded borders and retaining portions of the rare original leather borders. Mid-16th century. Interior of comb shows old gas-welded repair. Overall height 31cm/ 12.2”. Condition III
