Description
Dating from the beginning of the Qajar era, with waisted shirmani grip finely carved overall with the Persian Khorshid rising sun and a European courtier in characteristic dress on each with inscriptions. The broad, straight, double-edged blade forged of Persian wootz, with single offset fuller to either side. In its velvet -covered scabbard with engraved silver mounts, retaining its rare silver belthook. Late 18th-Early 19th century. The European is likely a British diplomat. Minor wear. Overall length 43.5cm/17.1 inches . Condition II
