Of characteristic form, the body formed of cane in a tightly-wound spiral, domed in profile, with each ring wrapped in split cane. With painted black rhombus motifs outlined in saffron yellow on a dark red ground. Brass central boss with applied skull, elaborately embossed and engraved and heavily gilded overall. 19th century or earlier. Wear to rim and surface, grips lacking. Diameter 34.8cm/ 13.7”. Edge worn. Condition III
