Description
Moro People, a massive example, the hardwood hilt with fine and elaborate carved decoration overall, retaining its iron guard and rattan band securing a red cloth munsala. The handwrought blade showing areas of layered forging, the expanded, stepped tip with spikelet. Retains its rare two-piece wooden scabbard. Mid-late 19th century. Minor wear, crack to scabbard, munsala possibly replaced. Overall length 103 cm / 40 1/2". Condition II
