Description
Istanbul work. Grip carved from a large section of figured walrus, the bolster engraved and heavily gilded, the blade of characteristic form, single-edged and wrought of dramatically-patterned Persian black wootz. In its scabbard elegantly mounted in silver, with filigreed locket and chape. Latter 18th century. Minor wear to scabbard. Overall length 29.7 cm / 11 3/4. Condition III
