Description
A superior example, with walrus grips, the tangbands wrought of fine black wootz, the integral faceted bolster true-inlaid in gold. The single-edged blade likewise of Persian black wootz and embellished at the forte with naturalistic scenes of felids stalking deer in true-inlaid in gold technique. Mid-18th century. Period repair to one grip, minor abrasion and losses to gold, slight areas of pitting. Overall length 29.2 cm / 11 1/2”. Condition II
