Description
With polished staghorn grips and faceted steel pommel, the guard wrought of Persian wootz. The long, single-edged blade of lenticular cross-section and lightly curved, forged of the fine and rare Kara Khorassan Persian wootz damascus steel with original finish, and inscribed in a polylobate cartouche, the name and title of Shah Abbas of Iran, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET (r. 1588-1629) above a second cartouche inscribed AMAL-E ASSAD ALLAH (Work of Assad Allah.) 17th century or later. Overall length 93.1 cm / 36 3/4". Condition II
