Description
The distinctive hilt forged with three drooping quillons and an angular knucklebow, each with bead finial, the massive grip with scrolled pommel carved of a single section horn with engraved silver ferrule. The very lightly-curved French blade forged with partial makers stamp visible at the forte. In its velvet covered wooden scabbard with large, elaborately embossed and chased silver mounts. Latter 19th century. Worn, velvet with minor tear. Overall length 97.2 cm / 38 1/4". Condition II
