Description
The cup finely and elaborately pierced with bands of spiral foliate work throughout, with long, wrenched quillons, the knucklebow an extension of the cup and likewise wrenched, with spherical pommel. Grip with original wire wrap and turkshead knots intact. Fine, long, double-edged tapering blade with raised central ridge to either side. Mid-17th century. Minor losses to cup. Overall length 121cm/ 47.6". Condition III
