Description
Comprising a massive cleaver of waidblatt form, the thick, broad blade parallel edged and terminating in an obtuse point. The staghorn grips with hooked pommel, the steel guard finely modeled and engraved and terminating in a birds head, with panels of engraving to either side and prominent ring guard. In its tooled leather-covered wooden scabbard with finely profiled steel mounts. 17th century or later. Cleaned, leather rubbed. Overall length 45 cm / 17 3/4". Condition III
