Description
Handwrought entirely of steel in Elizabethan peascod style, which emulated the design of fashionable doublets of the period. Superbly embossed and chased with thistles overall, with rolled and roped borders and en suite backplate and gorget with leather straps intact. First half of the 19th century. Minor wear. Overall height 51.8cm/ 20 1/2". Possibly made for the Eglinton Tournament. Condition II
