Description
The robust steel guard of distinctive form, with tapering quillons and developed langets. The massive blade of flattened-triangular section with long, well-defined yelman back edge with central ridge and and offset tang. 13th- 14th century. Excavated condition. Such sabers are extremely rare. A quite similar example appeared THE LEGACY OF GENGHIS KHAN catalog from the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York Exhibition, N.Y., 2002, Komaroff & Carboni, eds, p. 13 (see reference photo last image below.)
