Description
A fine, large pair of flintlock pistols with walnut stocks profusely carved in baroque motifs and elaborately embellished brass buttcaps and escutcheons plates in the form of double-headed eagles. The quality en suite locks engraved overall, the long barrels octagonal at the breech and finely engraved overall, with engraved silver barrel bands. In their rare leather double holster. C. 1750. Well worn overall, leather well rubbed. Double-headed eagles were often found on Greek weapons. Each pistol overall length 50cm / 19 3/4". Condition III
