A type which saw extensive use in the New World, the walnut stock of characteristic form, with carved wrist and distinctive Catalonian miquelet lock converted to percussion, the head of the hammer modeled as a lion head and signed PEREZ. The barrel octagonal at the breech and terminating in a broadly flared bell muzzle. C. 1750. Stock with stable crack, steel parts with areas of pitting. Overall length 81.4cm / 32?. As found.
