A small but quite fine example, the straight blade of characteristic form, rigid with notched shoulder and tapering continuously to an acute tip with deep chamfered edge, struck with the maker?s name, E. CAMPI (?) Elaborately etched in baroque motifs overall and etched VENDETTA and VAI AL CUORE DEL NEMICO (Go to the enemy?s heart.) Grip with mounts of silver finely engraved and set with inlaid mother of pearl panels, the pommel embossed and chased with a Roman profile. In its tooled leather-covered wooden scabbard with finely engraved silver mounts en suite with the grip. 19th century. Minor wear and losses. Overall length 17.1cm/ 6 3/4". Condition II
