The brass hilt of typical form with wire-wrapped sharkskin grip and sword knot, the straight, single-edged blade marked GEMSCO at the forte, with etched panels and a single fuller to either side. Inscribed USN and engraved with the owners name, JOHN G GRAF. Scabbard of black leather with brass mounts. Mid-20th century. John G. Graf 1927-MIA 1970-1978) was a decorated American Naval Officer.
