Of characteristic form, the polished rhino grips with rolled pommel, the well-wrought steel guard and tangband elaborately gold inlaid. The long, elegantly curved, single-edged Persian heirloom blade wrought of fine Kara Taban Persian black wootz and inscribed in a polylobate cartouche, the name and title of Shah Abbas of Iran, ABBAS SHAH BANDE-YE VILAYET (r. 1588-1629) above a second cartouche inscribed AMAL-E ASSAD ALLAH (Work of Assad Allah.) In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with intricate silver wire-bound seam and large, steel mounts finely inlaid in gold en suite with the hilt. Latter 18th century. Minor wear. Overall length 99cm / 39". Condition II
