Cuban work, the distinctive hilt with horn grips, the fingerstalls and hooked pommel known as the ?Guanabacoa? type (after the township in eastern Havana.) Mounted with a broad, straight, single-edged blade with angled tip, marked at the right forte with makers marks and COMPANIA INDUSTRIAL ACERO FUNDIDO No. 288. Late 19th century. Well worn. Likely made during the first year of the final Cuban War of Independence. Overall length 75cm / 29 ??. Condition III
