Description
The massive hilt of characteristic, spherical, form, comprising a circular pierced guard from which radiates a series of bars which connect at the bow. The ergonomic wooden grip covered in sharkskin. The interior of the guard set with the school or club colors, velvet panels in black and cream. The fine blade struck at the forte CARL ROTH, with raised central ridge and rebated at the tip, blued for half its length and embellished with goldwork in three panels at each side. Inscribed in German around the guard, likely presented to the winner of a championship. First half of the 20th century. Minor wear overall. Overall length 105.5cm / 41 ??. Condition IV
