Istanbul work, a massive example. The hilt wrought entirely in exquisitely embossed and chased silver in baroque motifs with remains of gilding. The double-edged blade with gold inlaid vinework at the forte showing evidence of wootz forging. 18th century. Minor wear, areas of pitting. Overall length 47cm./18 ? inches. Condition III
