Safavid work, a robust example with waisted walrus grip and curved, double-edged blade with pronounced central ridge forged of Persian black wootz, with chiseled panels at either side of the forte containing Quranic inscriptions true-inlaid in gold. 17th century. Minor wear to hilt, small areas of light pitting. Overall length 36.3cm/ 14 1/3 inches. Condition III
