Description
Known in Italian as the Borgognotta Aguzza (Peaked Burgonet, ) the tall, rounded skull with central ridge wrought of a single piece of steel designed to deflect blows. With separately applied bill, neck and cheek guards. The borders rolled and roped, and studded with brass. Retains its original buckle with chinstrap. Late 16th century. Right cheek with small restoration to outer corner. Ex-Christie?s London Antique Arms & Armor Sale, May 11, 1983, lot 69. Overall height 35cm./ 13 ? inches. Condition II
